Buy locally grown...

Choosing to buy locally grown supports local farms and helps to restore a strong sustainable food system.

One of the best ways to support local agriculture is by going to the Farmers' Market.  At the market you'll find a wide variety of freshly harvested seasonal produce, flowers, and herbs.  Other vendors offer products such as, bread, fruit, maple syrup, meat, and other artisan crafts.

Growing vegetables for a local market rather than for a transcontinental journey, allows us to choose varieties that have not been strictly bred for shipping and shelf life qualities.  Because we provide food for a local market we can let our produce ripen on the vine instead of in a box on a truck or in a warehouse while en-route.  As a result, the varieties being produce have better flavor, texture, and nutrition.
